The Convict is my working man’s guitar.
It is built from Guarea, a mahogany from the Congo, paired with a spruce top,
ebony fingerboard and ebony bridge. It is a straightforward, honest guitar —
built to be played, carried, worked, and relied upon.
This is a model I will continue to build. Each Convict follows the same basic
idea, but no two are ever quite the same. The timber, the feel, the voice and
the small details all give each guitar its own character.
The Convict sits at the other end of the spectrum from my Governor guitars,
which are built from Brazilian Rosewood. Where the Governor is rare, refined
and elevated, the Convict is practical, grounded and direct.
It is not a lesser guitar. It is a different kind of guitar.
The Convict is for players who want a handmade instrument with strength,
clarity and purpose — a guitar that feels ready for the job from the first
time you pick it up.
