Blackwood & King Billy Pine Acoustic Guitar

This guitar brings together two extraordinary pieces of Tasmanian timber, each with its own deep history.

The back and sides are crafted from stump-cut flamed Blackwood, that I personally carried out of the forest more than twenty years ago. Time has only added to the significance of the timber. Its dramatic figure, deep colour and striking natural movement give the guitar a visual character that is both bold and organic.

For the soundboard, I've paired it with ancient King Billy Pine from Tasmania — a timber several hundred years old. Light, resonant and visually understated, the King Billy Pine top provides a beautiful contrast to the richly figured Blackwood body.

Together, these timbers create a guitar that is more than a fine handmade instrument. It is a piece of Tasmanian landscape, history and memory, shaped by hand into something made to be played, heard and kept.

The result is a uniquely personal build: elegant, warm, and deeply connected to place.
